I’ve been a fan of Peter Greenberg’s travel shows for years, so when I heard he was releasing a book about the best hidden gems in Ireland, I was immediately intrigued. I’ve been to Ireland several times, but I’ve never really ventured off the beaten path. I was excited to see what Peter had to recommend.
The Book
The book is divided into four sections:

The Destinations
I was particularly impressed with the destinations in the Wild Atlantic Way section. I’ve always wanted to see the Cliffs of Moher, and Peter’s description of them made me want to go even more. I was also intrigued by the Aran Islands, which I had never heard of before.
The Ring of Kerry was another highlight. I’ve been to Killarney before, but I didn’t get to see much of the rest of the ring. Peter’s recommendations gave me a good idea of what to see and do.
The Burren and Connemara were also beautiful, but they were a bit more challenging to get around. The roads are narrow and winding, and there’s not much public transportation. But if you’re up for an adventure, it’s worth the effort.
The Irish Midlands were a bit of a letdown for me. I was expecting something more like the Cotswolds in England, but it was more like the Midwest of the United States. There were a few nice towns, but there wasn’t much to see or do.
