For Anyone Who’s Ever Searched ‘How High Should This Fixture Be?’

There’s a certain type of search that happens right when you’re holding a new fixture in one hand and a level in the other. You type “how high should a sconce be?” with the kind of hope usually saved for last-minute dinner reservations.

That’s the moment we built this site for.

I’ve worked in home interiors long enough to know that most projects don’t fall apart because of bold ideas—they fall apart because no one explained the spacing, the screws, or what’s hiding behind the drywall. Should it be centered? Does it need a stud? Can this even go here? These are the small choices that can quietly wreck a big plan.

At Panam Fixture, we go past the pretty photos and dig into the logic—what works, what doesn’t, and why. No generic diagrams. No buried instructions. Just straightforward, tested guidance you can actually use. Whether you’re mounting your first fixture or reworking an old one, we’re here to get you confidently through the chaos.

When the manual leaves you doubting, we fill in the rest.

Cabinets, Sconces, and the Chaos Between Them

People think design is about big statements. But real design? It’s about the inches. The awkward gap between your cabinet and the light switch. The wire that won’t reach the junction box. The shelf that blocks your sconce.

That’s the chaos I’ve always been fascinated by the in-between.

At Panam Fixtures, we focus on that middle zone, the part no one teaches you to think about. We walk through what kind of lighting works above mirrors, how to fit cabinetry around oddly placed vents, or where to position a towel bar so it doesn’t crash into the closet door. These aren’t design ideas they’re design decisions, and they matter.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s flow. We want to help you create homes that feel good because they function right. You don’t need to rip everything out or hire five contractors. You just need a better understanding of what connects to what and how to make it all make sense.

Real design lives in the small stuff. That’s where we start.

Meet Brian Babcock

I’ve been working in home interiors long enough to know that design doesn’t start with inspiration it starts with confusion. It’s the “what goes where?” or “can I even do that?” moments that push people to second-guess themselves.

I saw it constantly on the job, when clients would quietly ask what they felt were “silly” questions: Can I paint a laminate cabinet? or How often should I replace my shower head? They weren’t silly. They were honest. And they deserved real answers.

So, I decided to do something simple: collect every question, every curious pause, and every half-finished project I’d seen and build a place for them. Panam Fixtures is my answer to all the questions no one else seemed to take seriously. I’m not here to make you a designer. I’m here to help you make decisions with confidence. You’ve got the ideas. I’ll help you figure out the how.

What Have We Covered In This Blog?

When Your Wall Layout Wrecks the Plan

Pipes where they don’t belong.Angles that sabotage your shelf. We guide you through the real world problems your blueprint didn’t plan for with smart, adaptable solutions that don’t involve tearing everything out.

The Details That Trip You Mid-Project

You start confident. Then halfway through: where does this go? Can I drill into that? We step in with the guidance you need exactly when you need it mid-build, mid-question, and right before the regret sets in.

Should You Really Be Installing That?

You’ve got the tool, the fixture, the ambition. But is it the right move for your space? We help you slow down and consider function, clearance, and context before you commit to something that looks good but works terribly.

Just Enough Knowledge to Finish Strong

You’re not here to become an expert you just want to do it right. We help you understand what matters: the install height, the anchor type, the right spacing. No overwhelm. Just enough clarity to get it done right.

Helping You Decode the Details You Thought You’d Just Wing

There’s a moment during every home project where confidence gives way to improvisation. You get halfway into installing a fixture and suddenly ask: Wait, how high should this even be? Or Does this screw into drywall? Do I need anchors?

Most people just wing it. I used to see it all the time.

That’s why Panam Fixtures exists not to overwhelm you with technicalities, but to give you enough clarity to move forward without second-guessing every step. We explain the details you thought you could “figure out later” like mounting depth, fixture spacing, and what types of surfaces actually need sealing.

We talk materials, compatibility, airflow, and hardware types but without assuming you already know the terminology.

You don’t need to become an expert. But understanding just enough can save you from costly mistakes, unnecessary returns, or that frustrating “why didn’t anyone mention this?” moment.

So if you’re midway through a project and unsure if you’re overthinking it or underpreparing welcome. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Because guessing shouldn’t be your default plan.

What Sets Us Apart

Panam Fixtures isn’t a tutorial hub or a product catalog. It’s a space built by someone who’s answered the same quiet questions for years and decided to publish the answers. We focus on clarity over complexity, real fixes over perfect finishes, and the details most people overlook because they’re the ones that matter when you’re doing it yourself.

Welcome to the Fixtures.
